Percentage Change Formula

The formula for percentage change is written as:

Percentage Change = [(New Value – Old Value) / Old Value] × 100
New Value: New value is the most recent number you are working with and old value is the original number you started with before percentage change.
New Value – Old Value: Subtracting the old value from the new value gives you the amount of change. This can be a positive number or negative value. If the result is positive, it means there was an increase. If the result is negative, it means there was a decrease.
Divide by Old Value: Divide the difference (New Value – Old Value) by the old values, this will tell you how significant change is compared to where it started (old value).
Multiply by 100: Multiply the values by 100 converts the result into a percentage. For example:($65 − $50) ÷ $50 × 100 = 30%. Final Answer: Price increased by 30%.
